Ouch, Oprah!
You Still Eat With Your Hands?
She was at the Jaipur lit fest when I was in India this year and I have to say that the coverage of the fawning Indian fans was worse there than here!
I'm surprised she didn't hand out keys to a new car to everyone like she used to do on her show....

Oprah is a cottage industry. A business vertical as we'd classify her in certain circles. Her good work is also mixed in with show biz stereotypes.
Afterall she made her money doing afternoon talk shows. No story no show. No tamasha no show, so shock no show....

Strangely, I find most American talk shows a hyped affair. Some like Jay Leno seem to be imposing humour.
The guests are super exited for some reason, everybody laughs at basically nothing, crowd shout as if they have seen Donatella Versace without make-up and the host believes that he or she is doing a wonderful job. All this from a country that gives some of the best Sitcoms, specially Comedy.

Sometimes, the joy that the Daybreak brings, is unparalleled!
Oprah was told that Indians eat with their hands, but Americans use their tongue in every orifice. She has taken back her comments since....

I used to enjoy it in the early days when all the guests would be %^&'ing the $%^ out of each other. I think Jerry Springer started out that way, too. It all became a little tame later. This thread comes with a health warning.
