Oiling wood furniture (or hair)
I recently just realized that oiling your wood furniture can remove stains, cover up scratches, pull out the beauty of the grain and give it an amazing glow. I know this doesn't have much to do with India. The only connection is that some of my wood furniture is from India but I just wanted to share this with people. Well I guess it's the sae reason many Indian women oil their hair...
I don't know if it can change the color of light wood as I only have dark wood peices. In case you want to try to revive or just polish here's how: FURNITURE - Mix two parts olive oil (though I've found Canola oil also works) and one part lemon juice (bottled or squeezed but remove any pulp). - Wisk together with a fork until it becomes almost opaque. - Wipe on to wood (in direction of grain if you wish) with a soft cloth - Allow to sit and soak in to wood until water stains and scratches no longer appear - Wipe clean with a clean soft cloth and buff in a circular motion HAIR I don't think you need the lemon juice. I haven't tried it myself but I can see that it's not that different than conditioner. |
