Newbie Advice Required

Firstly, let me thank all the Indiamike contributors - I have been reading voraciously for the past two months gearing up for the gf and I's trip, which commences in two weeks.

However, I stilll need some advice/tips.

We arrive in Delhi on 24 Nov 04 and have the first three weeks or so taken care of with a tour through Rajasthan etc. We get back to Delhi around 14 Dec 04.

From then we have approx five and a half weeks in which to amuse ourselves. The idea, at this stage, is to move onto Goa before the Xmas/NY madness sets in for perhaps 10 days or so. Following this, the plan is to then move through Kerala and ideally over to Chennai and places in between.

As we both work and have been saving for the past year, we have a rather extravagent budget so internal flights and the occasional five star stay are no problem (we are on holidays after all).

What I really need some advice on is what is not to be missed between Goa/Kerala and Chennai over a five week period? Our major interests are relaxation/good eating/enjoying a few bevvies/historical sites.

Not real intersted in the ashram/meditation scene, so these items can be excluded.

I would appreciate your advice as reading the TT/Indiamike and the LP are getting a little bewildering.

Ok, your first 4 things you need (relaxing etc) can be found in Goa and to a lesser extant in Kerala at places like Varkahala and Kovalom once you get away from the beach then it gets a little harder. Places in Goa? Well look up and see what type of beach you want, from Palolem in the south through package holiday land to Baga, anjuna etc. Do NOT miss Hampi it is an amaxing place and well worth a visit an overnight bus from goa is the best way of getting there, it is a sleeper bus.You dont say how long you have in the south so I wont load you up with lots of places but for a good city try Mysore If you say how long you have I can give more suggestions.
