New record!!!

590 users online today...a new record for IM!!! Just a few months ago, this number was 350!! Now that's some growth...I guess IM has to keep pace with the overall Indian economy.

Cheers!!

I guess, this is first time since I became a Member that the most users' previous record has been broken within 24 hours.

These numbers are largely irrelevant, most of that total is made up of search engine 'spiders', these are sent out by the likes of google and yahoo to search for words/information to be used by their search engines.

Maybe 4 out of 5 of the 'users' online are these spiders, it's the same for all forums.

Out of interest, what period of time does the 'users online' cover?

Is it 'real time', or users in the last 15, 30 or 60 minutes?

It looks like well over a hundred of those online are internet search bots.

But we still have a pretty healthy amount of daily traffic, both from registered members and guests.

And the spiders are welcome too: they help spread the IndiaMike word!

I've got spiders in my kitchen.

Will the contents of my fridge end up on Google?

So long as the earlier data of record numbers of users are comparable with that of the latest one, there is no statistical issues.

I think it's the number (& Quality) of posts that counts, not the number of users! Would be interesting to know it these are increasing???? KK

True.

The numbers....

85 threads and 436 replies in the last 24 hours.

Everyone has their own idea of a quality post though.

Yes Steven, but i think my idea of quality is far superior!

I noticed a month or 2 ago that IM was averaging about 500 posts every 24hrs, but recently i've noticed it dwindling to between 250-350 per 24hrs,i don't keep a daily record though so i may be wrong. Maybe the Mod Team can check these figures & let us know, it would be interesting to see! KK

I have the same kind of idea about my enlightenment!

It would be interesting to have a member-count that reflected the currently active membership. Yes, we can say that 16,000-plus people have been here, but, I'd like to see some formula giving daily/weekly/etc membership.

Equally interesting is the same figures for guest visits to the site, leaving out the bots. That may even be more reflective of our usefulness as a pure information source to the world at large.

IndiaMike is like a mountain with a cloud on the top.

The cloud appears, from a distance, to be stationary, but is actual far from it. The water droplets in that ever-moving air-stream are ever changing.

Of course, here there are a handful of droplets that stick around

I suppose that the summer months are when everybody travels somewhere else. They should, really, be planning their winter trips to India! There is quite a lot to suggest (including more than a few confessions) that we are an India-lover's respite from office work too. The site is dead on a Sunday!

Having said that, probably the least interesting threads on the site are the site-introspective ones ...

That's probably why you are not enlightened Nick!
Enlightenment transcends "idea" or "my" KK
