my thoughts
Just a quick thought.........we must remember that India is very poor country and from the travelling experience I have had most people will always try their best to get top dollar for anything they sell. Why wouldn't they? Does it make any difference what country you are in? If you live in London and selling your motor car you are going to ask for a higher price then what you expect to get. But yes you are always going to get people who will try their best to rip you of but my opinion is that you get those people everywhere, and including those who are already rich!. Yes it does pay to do your homework though and ask around for prices before you do get scammed!
I am going to India at the end of year and I know I will be dis-heartend by alot of the poverty etc that goes on there. I certainly won't be handing out money to beggers in the street but one idea that I will be doing is taking crayons and small gifts for the children, however I will only be giving these out if I am 100% certain I won't be causing an uproar of beggers to start chasing me around India!!. hehe........ I think I have gone of track here a little but anyway, those are my thoughts.

One thing that shocked me on my first visit to India, was the amount of middle class and rich people I saw, also the amount of money spent on temples, it can be just as shocking as the poverty.
