my first 5 days in india

hi everyone,

i wanted to let you all know a bit about my first days in india.

the most important thing first: i`m having a great time

but the first day was a bit hard actualy, cause of the heat and i didn`t get much sleep on the plane and i ended up at a not so good guest house (no windows) and i couldn`t sleep even that i was very tired.

but on the second day everything started to change. first thing in the morning i changed my room. i moved to lawrence guest house in sai baba road which is great, and its only 500 a double.
next thing i started meeting people, first just at leopold`s and than on the street or wherever. on a trip to elephanta island i was surrounded by about 10 guys from hyderabad and all wanted to talk to me
on elephanta island a monkey stole my limca which was great fun.
i met a 63 year old indian guy who took me to a restaurant in fort area and we had a great evening with kingfisher, hayworth 2000 and some other brands of indian beer
we also had fish tikka, butter and garlik naan and gulab jamun which was excellent.
yesterday i met AvidTrekker and we had a walk along marine drive and then some excellent food at a vegetarian restaurant.
(chapati, sukha aloo with jeera, paneer bhurji, dhal fry, dahi and afterwards kulfi)
i also had my first paan (paan with navratam kimam)
well, it`s diferent

ok, that`s it for now, i`m off to rajkot tonight with a train (3AC). didn`t have a problem booking it yesterday.

have a good time everyone

martin

like ...nein , nao, noh-bo,nach, like uh huh!!!

(sunk yuh, sunk yuh vey mush..).

Thanks for posting! It's great to follow someone else's trip. Glad you could meet Avid Trekker, too! Look forward to your next installment when you have the time.

It was evening when we met. The fellow actually wanted to have beer...... nothing remotely resembling ginger or tea!! I said I will have some cool drink or something to give him company. After the meal and the tobacco-laden paan, I don't know what overcame him. He says, "OK, today I decide not to have beer". I said I am used to the situation cuz all my friends are beer drinkers.... he should not postpone such things. But he stuck to his story, "today I will not have beer". Was it the paan? I wonder??
