mountains in september

Hi,

My partner and I are planning to arrive in Delhi on September 2nd and have 3 and a half weeks to explore.

It is the first time for both of us in India. We are a bit nervous about traveling during monsoon season, but are under the general impression that areas to the north have agreeable weather.

Any itinerary suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

You are right about the agreeable weather in Sept. up in the mountains. You could start your trip from the Kumaons, heading west into Garhwal and into Himachal. There are so many places of interest enroute............it might take you 2-3 weeks to fully check out Kumaon........!!!!!One thing is for sure you will have a blast.........enjoy your trip.
Cheers

What about Udaipur? You could fit it in between Pushkar and Jodhpur perhaps?

Wow guys,

Thanks so much for the suggestions.

One more question: what is the normal mode of transportation? Buses? trains? I have heard that one option is to hire a car with a driver.

I'd appreciate any input on this, as I'm really in the early stages of learning how to go about travel in India.

Thanks!
