Mountain bikes in India

I mean bicycles. I am looking for a really light and sturdy mountain bike, 27 gears. Any of you bought any good ones in India. Please share your experiences.

from what I saw, mountain bikes in India wern't that good, are you looking for a rugged Urban bike or something to take up for rides around the mountains?

yuh. the funny thing is that bikes are likely made in india just so they can be sold to the US and labeled with kona, specialized, etc, all so you can import them back to india .

this is the best link that i could find
http://www.bikesutra.com/retailers.html

if you want to import, i reccomend getting ANY oryx (www.oryx.ca), their value is great and i have beaten the crap out of my oryx (t-line 500) yet it's still in one piece.

Check the message boards at hotels in Pahar Ganj. I've seen a few quality mountain bikes being sold cheap by people for whom the cycling part of their journey had ended.
