Monsoon? September 4th - 22nd

Does the 'end' of the monsoon (september) mean that it is still likely to rain all day every day?
I've been wanting to travel from Varanasi (via agra, gwalior, bundi) to Udaipur between the above dates.
If there is a strong likelihood of every day being completely washed out, i'll have to postpone..
and does it make towns look grey?

remember that each year is slightly different. However, heavy monsoon or no, weather at that time for that region shouldn't prevent you from enjoying your trip. In general that month, the rains are tailing off, especially in the north. I wouldn't let it bother me one bit. Just carry an umbrella and you'll be fine
