Monkeys

Even with the whole risk or rabies in India, how safe is it to handle monkies over there. I've travelled through some more touristy countries in asia like Thailand and Malyasia and the highligh of visiting some of the temples was staying outside playing with the monekys. I love monkeys.

I used to love monkeys until I visited India! The monkeys I encountered there were the most vicious, aggressive ones I've ever seen - and definitely to be avoided!! That's not to say they're like that all over India though? ..... (sorry, I haven't really answered your question!)

I don't think that you'll actually be playing with the monkeys in India. Most will keep at a safe distance from you. They'll be tempted by food to come a little closer, but they aren't treated to well by the locals who shoo them away. Even any you might find around a Hanuman temple won't be friendly If you're not careful in places like Pushkar they'll try and get into your room, they are fascinated by those little mirrors sewn into clothes & will try to steal them,,,,,,,,,,,,
