Truth

The Truth can be found in the complete conscious union between the mind and the body.

Yes, it WOULD create a huge controversy if you said that the area does not exist.
You need to have a complete update of 'The X-files'. (BTW try to search for Area 59, you may be taken to the US military site.

Is the question confusing? I will try to explain it again...pardonnez mon Anglais!

One often hears of people seeking the truth. What is the TRUTH in your eyes? What are you seeking?
I am looking for some witty replies that you may need not necessarily believe in real life.

To me the truth is that:
1. Area 59 does exist.
2. my neighbours are always better off than I am!
3. I am the only one who returned with a sore feet on the trek.
4. there is no place like home sweet home!

etc etc...

*REPOST* of lost post 24-5

mountaingirl, if this really were a million dollar question, the answer would have been found (and no doubt marketed in plastic packets) a long time ago. Reality is that Maya is a more attractive confection when there's financial gain involved. OK, call me a cynic (you probably already did, but I prefer sceptic). The following apocryphal tale may indicate my take on this:

A man in his later years, restless in his life in Europe, went to India to seek the truth. He had spent too long in the company of people whose only interest was short-term benefit, and he wanted to find a holy man, someone who would give his life more meaning than working, sleeping and eating seemed to do.

He searched for a long time in the Himalaya, believing this to be the place a true man of wisdom would be found. Eventually, after many false turns and nearly six months after he began, he came to a small cave near a massive glacier. Inside the cave a holy man sat meditating. Our seeker waited. He waited for three whole days until the holy man's meditation was complete. He then spoke to the holy man:

"Wise one, I have been on this journey for a long time now and I wish to know the answer to one question before I die," he explained.

The holy man looked deeply into the man's eyes and smiled slightly.

"What do you wish to know, restless one?"

"You must tell me, wise man, the meaning of the word truth because I cannot find this in myself..."

The holy man closed his eyes and spoke presently:

"The meaning of truth. Truth is like a flower that never blooms."

"What!" said the seeker, "I come all the way to India and climb halfway up to Tibet, get rained on and frostbitten, attacked by monkeys and mosquitos and you tell me that truth is like a flower that never blooms?"

The holy man opened his eyes and said:

"You mean it isn't?"

Away man Steven I was only joking ... edit off that Manchester United comment - pleeeeease - it stinks!!! You know everyone with half a sense of decency hates Manchester United.

You are making me write inane posts when Midnite Toker has just told a very profound story!!

MT I like that tale of the wee man in the cave. Is it a true story (!)

Right back to the thread. Where were we Mountaingirl ... somewhere in X-files series 3 set in Northern India and Scully is learning Hindi, Mulder has got no signal on his mobile, and the boy with flies inside his head is selling vegetables in Pahar Ganj. Come on Mountaingirl - give us some more clues...

The simultaneous measurement of two conjugate variables entails a limitation on the precision of each measurement. In the most extreme case, absolute precision of one variable would entail absolute imprecision regarding the other. In other words - if you know what absolute truth is then you don't know who you are.

If I have understood the question my response is that I don't believe that there is any such thing as "truth". Its all perception, and everyones/ every things perception is different. I think that people want to believe in an absolute truth as it makes them feel better. Its a more confusing world when you don't believe in truth.

PS isn't it area 51???

Wink

Btw. the Truth is not a variable, it is the constant all variables revolve around.
