Question Lemon & chiles

I was intrigued by the string of lemon and chiles I saw hanging in doorways in India -- once even on a police booth! Does that talisman (used to ward off the evil eye) have a name? I saw a silver version in Old Delhi but didn't buy it; I'd like to see if I can find a version on the web.

Thanks!!

That's funny, the question came up recently: 7 chilies and a lemon.

Awesome! Thanks! Although I see it doesn't seem to have a name. Maybe it too audacious to name. : )

I'm sure it does, it's just not mentioned there. Others might step in... Patience, peace -- as one author put it

It is called a "nimbu mirchi". This is Hindi for lemon chilli.

OP: Indian people believe in jinx/omen/bad luck/evil eye (*) and other bullshit. So, if they think an item is susceptible to those(*) they make it look/feel bad by a notch to bring down the chances of getting those (*) by putting black dots on things, smearing turmeric and hanging pungent food on the door.
