Legal age for drinking

Excerpted from another thread (advice on one section of our itinerary please):

How strictly is this law enforced? Do people younger than 25 attempt to circumvent the law with counterfeit identification cards? Does any one pay attention to forens?

Rarely enforced. Same as in rural states in the US; I doubt they card firangs.

In Mumbai the legal age for drinking beer is 21 years and hard liquor is 25 years. I have seen notice boards at the entrance of most bars stating entry restricted to person under 21 years of age. Although I doubt it is strictly followed.

We live in a rural state, and they bust your chops here. I suspect you mean those rural states.
