leave backpack

hello,

i would like to leave a backpack some place in dehli or varanasi while i explore the north. does anybody have a suggestion for a hotel or other place that will allow this for a fee?

My guess is just about anyone would watch your bag for you... especially for a fee.
I left my big pack behind on a few occasions, with no incidents. (you just have to trust the people you are leaving it with)

Try the left luggage counter at the railway stations and they will charge you only Rs10 per day the only condition being that it needs to be locked with a lock or else they will not accept it. It is pretty safe as long as you don't keep any eatables or anything that may make mice or rats think that there is food inside it and chew it up!!! These counters are known as cloak rooms in Indian Railways parlance and are found at most stations so you will not have a problem in keeping your luggage. Also inform them that you will be keeping the bags for a long period or they may think there is some illegal and destructive object inside it since it is lying around for many days without it being claimed by you. Always helps to tell them the facts.

Don't leave it at the stations cloak room more than a few hours. If you're gone too long, the attendants would take it. If the rats there haven't devoured it by then!!

Any decent hotel should be fine imo!
