Its not as expensive in India but I have heard that they really don't do a good job. The same applies to laser hair removal. I recently met a Indian woman from Australia who went in for some laser hair removal and ended up getting badly scarred. Some things are better done in the West I guess.

Teeth

Don't know about Mumbai but my husband had his teeth whitened in Goa last November and when we came back in March his mother noticed straight away (without been asked).
It cost 5.500 rupees and I was so impressed I am going to have mine done next month.

Also, if the discoloration is due to too much fluoride or tetracycline stains, the bleach is not the answer.

Tooth-bleaching under controlled dental office conditions may be safe and effective, but the new in-office techniques, particularly those using laser and lights, have undergone little scientific assessment.
(Source Canadian Dental Association 2004, http://www.cda-adc.ca/

5. What can happen after treatment?
• Bleaching may sometimes damage tooth pulp - the soft part of a tooth that has nerves and blood vessels in it. Pulp runs through the centre (or root canal) of a tooth. If tooth pulp is badly damaged, you may need a root canal.
6. What about eating, drinking and smoking? PAAN, CHAI..TOO
• Tobacco, coffee, tea, blue-berries, grape juice, cherries and red wine PAAN, chai, can stain bleached teeth, just like they stain natural teeth.

It may be useful to find out first from your local dentist if the over the counter CREST STRIPS available at the local drug store is sufficient to achieve what you want........

...........I cannot disagree those white teeth smiles just look sooooooooooo nice!

Well folks, all the curry I've been eating is taking its toll on my teeth. I know this is an old thread so hopefuly by now the procedure has become more common and the practitioners more adept. Does anyone have a reccomendation of a dentist in Bangalore that does teeth whitening? How much I should expect to pay?

i've had it done twice - about 5000 rupees. Laser is a misnomer - it is the same light used for curing white fillings - "laser" is a marketing fib. If you smoke - don't bother, won't last 2 months.

Yes I know, no lasers involved... just some gel and possibly a blue light. I had it done once in the states.

Where did you get yours done and would you reccomend them?
