Kinnaur to Spiti to Manali in May

I would like to travel from Kinnaur to Spiti in May and then continue to Manali through Kunzum La pass.
Does anyone have any info about the snow levels around the pass?
Will it be passable at the beginning of May?
If not, is it worth traveling from Kinnaur to Spiti and then turning around and going back to Shimla in order to get to Manali? Or should I leave Spiti for another trip?

The road from Kinnaur to Spiti is open for travel at this point in time though last week's snowfall might have had some impact on the status. Early May might be a little early to cross in to Lahaul and over to Manali considering that Rohtang is still buried under snow. Some other IMers have mentioned that BRO is working hard to open the pass by end of April/early May but I would not hazard a guess at this point in time. Third/fourth week of May might be a more suitable time to complete the entire circuit.

If you HAVE to do this in early May then you probably will have to return from Spiti back over to Shimla.
