Just returned from a month in India
I just returned from spending the whole month of June in India. Mostly Andrea Pradesh but also visited Chennai. I came just before the summer monsoon and for the first five days it was over 100 degrees every day with heat indices near 130, then the rains came--wonderful! If I can give info to anyone who wants it, let me know.
I attached a photo of a beach seen south of Visakhapatnam. Shawn Edit note: Photo re-sized to help slow connections, steven_ber. Last edited by steven_ber : Jul 23rd, 2003 at 13:32. |

Wow!!
I can't believe someone actually came to my part of town!!! I'm staying just north of Vishakapatnam (Vizag)... and we hardly have any visitors here...(couple of surfers last maonth... very dangerous though! too many hidden rocks... ) I would like to know what you thought of the place.... Perhaps it will encourage other to stop by if they're going from Chennai to Bangalore or something... the government is trying to get the coastal region up to Bhimili developed for eco-tourism.... but that's all in the future, and I can't see it happening on too successful a scale without some detailed planning... which is sadly unlikely considering the mess they're making with the developments on the coast now.... hardly 'eco'.... Where did you stay in Vizag? I'm only familiar with a couple of the hotels as far as social activities go, so it would be nice to get an objective write-up for the hotels section. ... if anyone is around this weekend drop in to the Park (A '5-star') on Saturday for the MTV Bacardi blast where I'll be celebrating my exam results!!If you are planning to come back anytime drop me a line... I could do with a break from college, and there are at least a few thing that you need a local to fully appreciate.... 3000 yr old buddhist ruins, Bora caves... the list goes on... a little (!) Peace from the East Prav |

I have an old friend that I grew up around when I was growing up in the U.S. and I went to visit him. He is a native of Visag.
I also visited Turipati, Nandigama ,Viajawada, and several other places. Vizag is not bad, but some of the places I went were. It is certainly a different planet than the U.S. but I enjoyed the visit. I also visited Hyderabad. What a wild country! |
