the old india bug huh - i hear there's no cure for that, and no bug spray either!

crikey, you wouldn't want to get bitten by that monkey would you?

Talking

hehe thanks everyone

Well I came to india on june 5th! Landed in Delhi in 46°c heat and coming from iceland that was like walking into a wall! I spent a couple of days in delhi (most of it in my AC hotel room LoL) and met up with the rest of my group of volunteers.

We then took a bus to Jaipur where we stayd with host familys for a week. We did some shoping, went to amber fort and I rode an elephant! That was really nice, Jaipur is such a stunning city and I loved it.

After a week in Jaipur we took a bus to delhi and then a train to some town in Himachal I think (don't recall the name hehehe) and a jeep to Palampur were we saw our camp. It was pretty nice, and palampur has amazing surroundings of green teafields, mountains, rivers and waterfalls! We settled in there and picked what we wanted to do, I worked in an aanamgwari(however you spell that, it's a daycare center for poor children) at first, did helth checks in 1-5th grade in a few schools and taught 8th grade english in an all girls school. It was really nice and I miss my kids tons and tons!

On the weekends we would usually go to mc'loud ganj and just chill out and that was pretty nice I even managed to meet an Icelandic person (whitch is pretty amazing considering there are 300.000 of us LoL) That was pretty awfull though, there were 2 of us Icelandic girls just sitting and chatting when my friend spots a cute guy in the corner and starts going on and on about how hot and cute he is and blah blah, in icelandic ofcaurse. I however say that he's a little TO blonde for my taste... After a few minutes of talking about that, the "cute guy" pulls up a chair and says "hi how are you girls" in icelandic. I think my face turned into about 20 different shades of red and I developed a sudden studdering problem...!

After spending about 10 weeks in the volunteer program I headed back home. Took a train to Delhi and stayed there for 3 days. After having spent a while in india Delhi seemed alot nicer second time around and I did alot of shopping! I also spent my 19th birthday there and that was pretty nice, and the next day I flew back home!

When I got home though Iceland seemed pretty gray and lifeless! You get sooo used to the colors, smells, sounds and feel of India always stimulating your senses, and nothing can ever come close to that! I'm gona go back in a few years, just to travel and enjoy myself, India is probably the most amazing place in the world...!
