Just got back from a wonderful trip to India

Dear Indiamikers:

Thank you for helping me plan a fantastic trip to India. It feels weird to be back in NYC where there is no noise pollution or unorganized traffic or touts on every corner.

My husband is caucasian and I am of Indian origin, so it was strange to see a different price quoted when he was with me and when I was by myself. But I was upset that most people in restaurants, hotels etc treated us nicely when I was with my husband (non Indian person) rather than by myself. So we devised a strategy where for shopping etc, I would try to go by myself to get the best deals and in restaurants and hotels we would try to go together to ensure we got good service. And it generally worked. We also realized that to travel through India you really need to be easygoing and accept things for what they are out there. And a sense of humor is a big plus. If you expect things to be as in Europe, America or other wealthy developed nations, you will be very disappointed. My husband and I LOVED it and we are planning our second trip already for sometime next year. The people are wonderful and so are the sights. So rich in history.

We stayed at some fantastic places and I am looking forward to posting reviews. And I met a fellow Indiamiker (Luckywoman) in Jodhpur, albeit briefly.
