Okhil Babu's letter to the Railway Department
(early 1900s - Imagine a Bangla accent)

"I am arrive by passenger train Ahmedpur station and my belly is too much swelling with jackfruit. I am therefore went to privy. Just I doing the nuisance that guard making whistle blow for train to go off and I am
running with 'lotah' in one hand and 'dhoti' in the next when I am fall
over and expose all my shocking to man and female women on plateform. I am got leaved at Ahmedpur station.

This too much bad, if passenger go to make dung that dam guard not wait
train five minutes for him. I am therefore pray your honour to make big
fine on that guard for public sake. Otherwise I am making big report to
papers."

Okhil Chandra Sen wrote this letter to the Sahibganj divisional railway
office in 1909. It is on display at the Railway Museum in New Delhi. It was
also reproduced under the caption "Travellers' Tales" in the Far Eastern
Economic Review.

Any guesses why this letter was of historic value?

It apparently led to introduction of TOILETS in trains.

Subject: some thing bad

Dear all

Yesterday some thing which i saw was not at all good.
Yesterday night at 12.30 at midnight on rentv there was a blue film called immeunal in which the picturisation was on dessert queen ( palace on wheels).

How did the indian railway give permission or such movie ? now a days the railway govt is giving permission for such dirty shooting in rail coaches.

Can any tell me what is happening.

It was not at all good and I watched the whole movie just to be sure!!

I hope the writer of this letter in disgust switched over to another channel or is he/she saying that blue movies should only be made in foreign locations?

Maybe it was 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert', an Australian movie about a busload of homosexual performers travelling across the outback. Great movie, maybe a bit rude in places but certainly not blue...
