Internet in Delhi
Hello all -
Am moving to Delhi for a year and am debating whether or not to take my laptop with me....I can live without it and would rather not lug it around and get sucked into the cyber world, yet at the same time there are some advantages to it (internet phone calls, managing music and photos, watching DVDS, etc.). Question is: what is the average I would expect to pay for wireless or high-speed/DSL internet at home? There is no point in taking the laptop if the connection is going to be achingly slow and/or connection cost is exorbitant (as I will be counting my rupees!). So, if anyone knows round about how much I would be paying, it would help in decision making process greatly! Thanks everyone! |

If I recall correctly, 256kbps ADSL is widely available in Delhi, though it was more expensive than in the west. Around the USD60 per month mark.
That's just a ballpark figure to give you a rough idea - hopefully someone from Delhi will be able to give you the correct, up-to-date figures shortly. sanj

I recommend that you definately get the laptop and internet speed is just fine here if you get a dsl line. They are economical; I pay about 750 Rs per month (15 $ approx) for 256 kbps line from Airtel which works fine. I also have a Reliance air card which enables me to access the net wherever I go (wireless). The speeds are farely okay here too, but I dont know the exact cost as my company pays for it.I reckon that it would be about 1500 Rs per month.
So definately carry it with you. Rohan
