injuried shoulders - can I travel w/ suitcase in Manali?

My shoulder has been injuried and now is slowly recovering. However, I am told not to carry anything heavy on my shoulder. But I will be going to India next week for 2 weeks holiday in Manali, do you think I can just take my suitcase with me? (I know it looks a bit funny)

How about when I trek and camp in the mountain? Should I use Manali as a base and store my stuffs there? When I trek, do I need to carry a lot of things??? Plse help.

TM

A friend has a similar problem having recently broken his collar bone. He's heading off to a music festival soon with all his gear in one of those funny shopping baskets on wheels.

Why not use a back pack as the weight is spread evenly and carrying a suitcase will only drag on the neck and opposite shoulder. There are always official porters at about RS10/- per bag so budget on some assistance even on the trek the would be a bag carrier/porter/sherpa available for a fee.

Don't spoil the holiday, budget for some assistance that is all.

Thanks for the idea. (I love the shopping cart. Will be really cool trekking with that

I will get help from porter. But when I trek, do I need to bring warm clothing with me? I have no idea what to pack for the trekking.

Go with the shopping trolley. People will think you're an eccentric poet and flock to you and sit at your feet waiting for your words of wisdom.

Luckily I came back to this thread second time.

I just totally failed to appreciate it the first time...

Through The Jungle With A Shopping Trolley

The Himalayas and a Shopping Trolley

Cities of India and a Shopping Trolley

and more, no doubt. All great adventures and all great books. But you'll have to get yourself a grey rinse and a tartan skirt!

Fabulous idea: Go For It.... Please. I really want to see it done
