Indian shoemaker for salem shahis

Hi Evrybody!

I'm looking for a shoemaker in Delhi who can make salem shahi mojaris (the curly-toed traditional Indian shoes) in Delhi. I have designed a pair that I would like specially embroidered and built with a custom sole.

I'm talking about a REAL shoemaker, not just one of those street-side cobblers that repairs shoes- they're all over the place and easy to find.

I know this is an esoteric question, but can any of you help me out? Have asked my dad and researched a lot, but it's uncommon to find links to traditional artisans on the web.

Any help would be appreciated, including just some tips on a neighborhood that I could investigate.

Hi,

Does the person necessarily have to be in Delhi ??? I have a friend in Jaisalmer who is a shoemaker and he has in the past, made maharaja chappals.

South extension has a few shops which sell "jutti's"....the thing is they make them themselves so it might be worth your while to show it to them once and see if they can produce it....they might be able to refer someone to you if not...

Thanx evrybody for the help. My aunty lives in S.E. and I have had a sherwani made there. I remember that it took a few visits, tho.
