Indian Ringneck parrots in danger - Los Angeles

I am hoping this message is not inappropriate. If you live in or can go to Los Angeles and can give one or more of these living jewels a home, please consider doing so - this broke my heart when I read it on a parrot list I belong to. Too bad I live all the way cross country. I remember seeing (and hearing!)these little guys flying around in Rewalsar, HP.

"283 juvenile Indian Ring Necks have arrived in Los Angeles. They have

been confiscated and are being held in quarantine. They need homes.

If they are not placed they will be euthanized next Thursday, April
20.

If you can help please contact:

www.parrotsfirst.org or call

Rose Levine at 866-248-7670 X 5937."

I don't see any info on the website. I am willing to contribute to cover the cost of sending them back to India, if that is an option.

Me too, I'd be willing to contribute to sending them back to India.

It might be a good idea to call the woman whose contact info is in the message - I will do so myself and find out exactly what's going on. I don't know if it would be possible to send them back to India but I would be willing to contribute as well. The message says they are 'juvenile' - I just pray they are fully weaned at least - if not then they will not survive.

Why can't they just let them free, In recent years this very bird has become a new feature of Holland's birdlife and they seem to do really well.
A friend has loads of them in his garden and I see them from time to time from my balcony!!

No doubt there's some bit of red tape that forbids this though!
