Mod note: Folks, enough already.
Anybody bickering any more out here or making any personal remarks will have to do household chores. |

Personal remarks are no rocket science either and it's possible that I'll look better in a sari than some people in anything they wear.
Now for those household chores.... |

No more personal remarks?
Damn... I was just going to suggest that it was Prak's picture that caused the suggestion that it was not OK to wear shorts in India! ![]() (I just haven't forgiven him of thinking of that embassy line before I got to the thread )

Well, that picture was taken in the Lake District, not in India.

I'm surprised that no one has asked smilingfish the most obvious question:
Do both of you intend to work? If not, whoever is at home should do most of the housework. That's just being reasonable, not chauvinistic... It's easy in the west for us to assume that the 'woman does all the housework' ethic is wrong, sexist, etc., but in many cultures this is the norm, and based on practical considerations. We need to keep in mind that in the west, often both parties work, and thus it would be a bit sexist if that's the case. If Smilingfish and her spouse both work, then I'd just recommend asking him what sort of duties he's willing to accept, and taking over whatever's left. It's much easier than bickering over issues like that. Most likely, this will naturally tend to be -man does 'manly' housework, woman does 'womens' housework, and that's just fine, so long as it's more or less evenly distributed. My only personal contention with that system is that whoever cooks, shouldn't have to do the dishes. But that's my personal peev. |
