Those kind of clothes you'll easily get anywhere in india....
The price quoted on the link is very high... typically you will get these in range of 250 to 700 Indian Rupees (say around 10-40 usd) |

Rs. 250-700? No way!! Okay, maybe a couple of those tops but not the formal dresses. Those would start from ten times that amount.
Veronique, although you'll get such clothes at any big city, consider including Delhi in your trip. They call it the "fashion capital" of India. And in Delhi, most designers have outlets at Mehrauli-Gurgaon road on the outskirts of Delhi. There's even a new mall coming up specially for the fashion consumer. Check out this article. It features names of top designers that you can Google for more. |

I worked in the clothing industry in my past life and I think the prices of the dresses are quite reasonable. Zardosi and silk and hand embriodary doesn't come cheap. On top of that, it's made to order. The same piece in a UK boutique would be easily 2-3 times the price, if not more.

You'll find these ready made...
V,
All the fashionable young ladies in Mumbai ae wearing these types of western influenced outfits. They look great, and I can understand wanting to get yourself some! Is this your first trip to India? Don't know how much of an explanation to give here....but basically, you're going to find the good stuff, ready made (rather than wait to have it made to fit you...still the more fun way to go) in Mumbai. There are shopping areas there the locals can easily direct you to. |

And yes, in Mumbai you'll find as much and perhaps more than what you'll find in Delhi. Lots of stores of designer clothes in any upmarket area of each city. But for the best [and the most expensive] fashion designers, head to MG road in Delhi...can't say about Mumbai. |
