It's not banned. It has not got censor board's ( Central Board Of Film Certification ) clearance yet. Hopefully, it will be released in 2018 with a few cuts made & more importantly after Gujarat state election gets over next month.

It is banned in many states here, there is now a PIL in supreme court to stop its screening in foreign countries, and there is a suggestion to go to UN to ban the film worldwide, no kidding. I doubt producers will take a chance of releasing it outside India before the mess is sorted out in India.

I think there will be special UN session to deliberate the pressing issue of utmost importance, and kim jong-un may be asked to screen it in North korea in lieu of removing all sanctions, because once he does, he is history, or at least his nose will be, a simple way to eliminate a ruthless dictator.
If you find my posts confrontationist, please bear, I am an old frustrated guy who has nothing better to do than sit on rocking chair and curse the world whole day

How about this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padm%C3%A2vat%C3%AE. I watched a performance at Dortmund some years ago: http://www.omm.de/veranstaltungen/mu...padmavati.html. The costume designers were having a lot of fun.

These Rajputs are mixing up the historical person with the character from Jayasi's epic poem. They should shave off thier moustaches and jump off the parapets of Chitorgarh Fort.
And the people reporting on the fracas don't seem to know the diffrence between sati and jauhar.

miyu, it's not banned because it is 3D, it is banned because some people think that there might be something in it that they might possibly get upset about about.

You know bookburning... did you ever wonder how many burners of books ever read them, or even opened the cover, first?

Sheesh, if things that give me a headache should be banned, there wouldn't be much world left.

Back in 1964 no one seems to have objected.

This is from Maharani Padmini (1964). The Rana of Chitaur is showing off his "ladies" to Sultan Alauddin Khilji.

There is quite enough 3D in Golghar's clip, even on the small screen.

I ought have included a health warning for Vaibhav.

@nycank
I didn't get the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur thing. Or does it have something to do with the last of the options mentioned in this list of abbreviations:

You'll be pleased to know that when I saw Life of Brian in the theater in the US back when it was new (I was a kid, okay?!) there were a straggle of protesters outside!
