hi all,
The old fellas and the new travellers,all of us know how plastics are a trouble for this mother earth.So when Indian railway Minister reintroduce the pot chai(tea served in an earthen pot),its a brand old formula brought to this sytem for better of evryone.Thats what the old fells have missed a lot in trailns of India.Doing so not only He is environmentaly correct that also provide a lot of work to the traditional potters.
So should we at INDIAMIKE think of presenting HIM as the MAN OF THE VISION award. and something like that and ETC

Laloo's directive seems to be only on paper, as I was served tea in the usual plastic cups on my recent journey on the Sealdah Rajdhani Express from Kolkata to Delhi !

I think an award to Lalu might be up there with the proposal of GWB for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I'm all for his introduction of the old clay cup!! Further than that I don't think I'll go. The man has not been good for his Bihar constituents shall we say.

In all honestly, the mind boggles that this guy now holds a Ministership!!

In principle, clay cups are the ecological choice as far as waste disposal and fuel are concerned.
Clay is less environmentally offensive than plastic and wood is renewable.
However, one should carefully compare how much energy is used for the production of one clay cup and a plastic one, and how much pollutants are respectively released in these processes.
Also, wood may be renewable, but the question is, will it be actually renewed or will its use contribute to deforestation and erosion.

All those things must be weighted. It's all in the implementation really, which must be complete and not for the sake of some cheap political points.

Why doesnt the site set up awards similar to the heraldic awards
we could set up varying awards some for great achievments some for minor achievements
They could be awarded every year through a poll

So lets think

1. Order of the chai ...The top award
2. Order of the masala dosa
3. Order of the thali
3. Order of the chapati

We could also have awards for failure to serve etc

so

1. Order of the urine stained concrete wall
2. Order of the handicraft / travel agent tout
3. Order of the one pen please
4. Order of the what is your country
