Indiamikers who make me smile

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are leaving for Thailand for a week before flying to India to visit my in-laws so since it is our first trip to Thailand I was browsing other forums for Thai information etc....

Little did I realize how crappy other sites are, Condescending mean spirited people...makes me regret even signing on sometimes. It also made me realize how much I value Indiamike and the people here and...so on that note

I gotta mention my favorite Indiamikers..people who brighten my day simply by reading their daily posts.

Nick_H, Shakthipalooza (dont know him well but boy he makes alot of sense plus his wife is from AP too hehe bias), Shimla, Pravin, mridula, Rob_the_Pom, lotus_blossom (like her posts alot), ddevadatta, yogagal, edsita, kaushik, hyderabadi and a host of other people I cant remember! thanks!

I am gonna miss coming here for the month I am in India in my in-laws village. So which Indiamikers brighten up your day?

Enjoy Thailand, esp. the food, gets me hungry just thinking about it.

My friend uses a Thai forum called Thai visa (or something similar), he says it's a good site, but all to often it gets personal and nasty.

I know from experience how sickening the Thorn Tree's Thailand branch can be, but I seem to remember a few decent posters used to offer good info.

Add Steven_Ber and AvidTrecker, Digital Drifter and Ranggs to the list. There's more, many more but I can't think at the moment

...and then, just looking at the shoutbox, there's Beach, and Sudheer and Serina and.... and.... and...

No, its not good: I just can't list them; far too many!

Sorry to post a negative and I'm sure it wasn't meant as such but this post seems a bit elitist!

Are we supposed to list all the 'best' posters?

No. It wasnt meant to be negative or elitist. I am just telling who brightens my day. Lots of people here do...I just named some of them off the top of my head.

boy oh boy...I knew writing this post that someone would say something like this...I just knew it! In hindsight I should have refrained...anyways Wow...ding ding ding you win the prize hehe!...but anyway it wasnt my intention at all.

There is a difference between brightening my day and "best" posters. Its up to you how you want to interpret it...but I never said they were the best posters or an elite group..just that I (little insignificant me) enjoy reading their threads...thats all...please dont make it more....I am a pacifist and no match for you...look at my title...hahaha

Never thought it was your intention for a moment! Just thought it could be interpreted as such, sorry maybe I shouldn't have posted that one too!

umm...yeah, elitist.

Read the OP. and again.

Is there no one's post you enjoy reading here?

Short question, is there anyone's postings *you* like for whatever reason? If so, plonk it down if you're upto it, else killfile this thread.

Me, I post here to warn others about the lobotomy which occurs to them if they listen to THAT man, with 23 crowns, a blot on the Landscape[1] of IM.

[1] Apologies to to Tom Sharpe

this shameless display of reading intellect, that's elitist.

docgirl, my buddhist teacher told us once, no matter what we say or do, even if it comes from our heart, there will ALWAYS be someone who will not like it or will find something wrong with it. always. that is reality.

he said this in the context of trying to make a decision whether to conduct a meditation outside -- "someone will be too hot, someone will be too cold, someone won't like the sun, someone won't like the shade, someone will say it is too windy, or that there is no breeze....."

just a test of our metta, our loving-kindness, no?

Since I've been a member of IM (not long!) it has become very important in my life, and I've become confident enough to say what I feel which is fantastic to me! (I've not been on any forums before!)

I really love most of the posters on IM and genuinely feel that I am part of the family at IM! Inclusive in that is posting what I truly believe, whether it is right or wrong! I am always I hope, open to criticism and willing to alter my views if shown to be in error or mistaken!

i don't think that this is related to "best posters", but those posters who docgirl resonates with, on a certain level. i certainly have my list too, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say list of certain posts. as an example, i really liked yours on fair trade shoes. thanks for that.

Point taken and thank you for positive review on 'fair trade shoes' post!

It wouldn't have got as interesting without your input however!

(Danger! Warning! This could become a mutual appreciation thread!! )

Congatulations!

Sorry to interrupt your charming talk but this thread seem to me off topic of Indian travels and need to be removed from main window.

Congratulations to all mentioned posters but want to express my wonder why some of them did not contribute not a one foto to photo gallery having thousands of posts or they just use this forum as a place to socialize and did not travel in India at all?
