I wrote a review of some of the best travel sites on the Net which appears tomorrow in the New Sunday Express in India - and IndiaMike is there.

IndiaMike in the Sunday Express

Tomorrow being Sunday, wonder how many hits will IndiaMike get. Normally, imho; the weekends are "lazy days" for IndiaMike... lesser members are seen active on the forum.

And fresh sign-ups are closed! What will all those Express readers do? Bang at Mike's door? Lemme in! Lemme in!?

Great reviews Colin! The moderators should be very excited about all the new business you're bringing their way.

I noticed you didn't include LP's TT. Was that an oversite or a snub?

Colin, Is the New Sunday Express a webzine?

No, it's a newspaper. It is the Sunday edition of the New Indian Express, which is circulated across South India. In fact, it's in the top six bestselling English language newspapers in India.

Great article. I bookmarked it. The TT site is conspicuous by it's absence.

I can't speak for Colin but maybe the TT's absence is explained by the introductory

Most of the main guide books such as Lonely Planet and Rough Guide have a presence on the web but there are many other domains, which sometimes offer a different slant. The sites listed here are a varied bunch.
It looks like his intention just wasn't to cover the major sites. Now stop all the biggie bashing!

Thumbs up

Nice article, Colin.

Always good to see IM getting some of the praise it deserves.

TT isn't mentioned and it's a major site. Travelmag is mentioned and it's not as well visited. The idea was to give a good mix of the better known and the not so well known and to provide a mix of interactive sites and article based sites. Let's face it there must be hundreds of travel sites out there. They can't all be included. For example I had a choice for example of including World Hum or TT and went for World Hum. I opted for India mike ahead of other India sites.

Sorry Skell, I thought TT meant "traveler tales". I now realise it means Thorn Tree. Well as machadinha has already stated, the intro to the article explains why.

Right, LP isn't exactly a secret source. But I "discovered" Thorn Tree about the same time as India Mike, so thought it wasn't so well known. Guess I'm a little behind the times!

And I went and bought the Sunday Express. Nothing there.

The NEW Sunday Express is not seen at regular vendors in Mumbai. Well, I still have IM & Colin's exclusive preview!

That's probably because you didn't buy the NEW Sunday Express. The "Sunday Express" is a completely different newspaper from Mumbai. The NEW Sunday Express is not released in Mumbai/Maharashtra. It's available in Tamil Naduu, Kerala, AP, Karnataka and Orissa.
