This site is worth to me at least the cost of a Lonely Planet guide book.
Stick a little Paypal thingie in the corner of the webpage, and I'll pledge it. But I can understand if it's more the energy than the money. I hope there is someone out there feeling fresh and enthusiastic that could take over the reins. |

Just as I am about to relocate to Auroville, thinking.. oh, sure, I can always get information from IM... now it might vanish in to a virtual dream..
Though I am a new member, I can not imagine planning a trip to India without it.. I can not imagine coming to work and spending as much time on IM's as I do blogging... What’s to be done...?...should we contact the UN... ![]()

There are a couple of web communities out there that have bi-annual web-a-thons where the monetary goal is clearly marked. You figure out exactly how much you would need to hire a helper, then twice a year you have a web-a-thon to raise the money to pay this person.
I know I would be willing to shell out a few bucks! This site is amazing! |

Nice ideas for raising money guys! I think I can speak for the big cheese in this though. Mike for personal reasons has always been uncomfortable with the idea of donations and raisng funds from members.
So nice as the ideas are I think Mike would probably decline, I think he's secret Hippy, his new avatar only reinforces this opinion!! Anyway it appears the site is funding itself at the moment! Mikes comments I think speak of the other headaches of running the site, which is a lot of work for Mike! |

So is the answer to be found in that wonderful word Delegation ?
Seems to me that the nature and character of IM has to be preserved, but there is only one group of people who can do that, and that is mike and the existing Mod-team. Hear what you say about Mike's attitude to donations, Cyber, but if at least some of the techi stuff could be taken off Mike's shoulders it must be a help? Hoshii's suggestion might really help this out. Perhaps, Mike, you might be open to persuasion on this? OTOH, if I was Mike I'd worry about trusting my baby to someone elses unknown skills.... Oh, what an imperfect world! What we want is an IndiaMike.com that IndiaMike can enjoy too!

Somewhere, in some thread, I wondered if we all promised not to send the mods or Mike any PMs that that might help. But I think Mike's headaches must be way bigger than just that. Would that there were a computer whiz out there - one who loved indiamike and India and Mike - whom Mike could hire. |
