Exclamation India we miss you.

Me and my girlfriend have been back home in England for one month now after our three month trip around India.

We started in Mumbai. From Mumbai to Goa for a week and then down to Gokarna (aaahh gokarna!) for two weeks. We then went to beautiful hampi, Bijapur, Aurangabad, Ahmedabad and then to Mount Abu. From there we headed to Jodhpur to Delhi to Rishikesh and Haridwar... from there to Shimla and then on to the amazing Mcleoud Ganj...

When we were travelling, it was hard work... hot, tiring, sweaty, noisy, crowded, smelly, etc... but now that I'm back, I realise how amazing India actually is.

Now that i'm back home and back in the rat race, I realise how bloody petty everything is here... How morbidly depressed everybody seems and how expensive a life style we live.

All my friends seem to be childishly petty, arguing over pointless things and totally ungrateful for what they have.

After living out of my backpack for three months, to get home to find friends arguing about films and music and acting all depressed and ungrateful, I realise now.... I wanna go back to my little beach hut in Gokarna... to put my hammock up and lay back and watch the world go by.

Or maybe sit off on Sunset point in Mount Abu, or maybe take a Rikshaw ride to the Aurangabad caves and stare at the impressive buddhist carvings.... or gaze at the fascinating Jain temples or Muslim mosques... or sit in the woods around Mcleoud Ganj and watch the monkeys playing...

India thankyou.

Hi there - i totally agree with you. India was hard work, noisy, busy, hectic but then all the good things...I loved the food, all the people i met were so friendly and warm, they just wanted to chat with you, get to know about your culture and your country. It's only since I got home after my 3 weeks spent travelling around that I realised how much i miss it. They say you dont know what you got until its gone, well that's so true. Now that i am home and in regular contact with a friend i made there I realise that i have to go back. The only problem is lack of funds and other committments, anyway, I live in hope. Next destination Northern India & Kashmir. India has changed my life.

I am always happy to be home for about 2 weeks and then I am ready to go back. I do often find it hard to relate to people when I come home. I often dream of being back in the hut, or lounging in a cafe drinking my chai and watching the world go by. If I had the finances I would go back every year. Until then, I spend my time imagining myself back in the hut.

I know the feeling. Home looks the same but somehow it feels all wrong. I returned in March after 6 months traveling.. and I will return in September, this time I don't have a return ticket.

Empty

Everytime we get back to Europe we felt that something is wrong. It took some time to figure out that the thing that feels wrong is the emptiness of the streets. In India there it's always full Martini time (people anytime anypolace anywhere ;-).

Full report of our last trip (dec-jan) is at:

Happy travels,

Hans
