What is the major language spoken in Inida? I know there are many different languages but I was wanting to know more about the major ones.

er.. no. bengali is the second most spoken language in india after hindi. in fact if you subtract the number of speakers of languages like bhojpuri and mewari and gharwali/pahari from so called "hindi" speakers, then bengali may be the most widely spoken language in india.

if you mean there are more hindi speakers in u.p. than speakers of bengali, you could be right. else not.
