India during monsoon
Hi all, i'm hoping to do the 'Golden triangle' route of Delhi, Agra and jaipur this ummer, my first trip to India, but have seen that the time i was planning on going (July / august) is monsoon season.
Will travelling to India during the monsoon make my trip more difficult than it already may well be?!?! Cheers. ![]() |

Dont worry about monsoon, it may help you.. as it will be too hot and humid during those days.. Atleast a good shower is always welcomed.

Monsoon in India
I was in Delhi last June and found the heat and the humidity debilitating. I'm used to heat and humidity (summers in Florida), have no problem getting up at 6:00 a.m. before it gets too hot, and can spend a whole day in my air-con room with a stack of books and Indian magazines and food sent up (something I'd always wanted to do in India anyway), but I did feel that I could have done more each day if the weather had been better. If you can go at another time, you might get more out of your trip. If this is the only time you can go, just go! You'll soon learn how much activity you can take every day, and India is always wonderful. I didn't regret a single minute, but the next time I would pick a season that allows me to do more without collapsing.

Thanks for that Mikki, it is really the only viable time i can go this year, so i'll probably just go for it and test my stamina!
Thanks again. |

I spent February through August last year
in Varanasi. The heat and humidity started in April and I didn't stop sweating til I gave myself a birthday present and got an AC room for several days - just to dry out some. My budget allowed a room with a fan, but even then, due to power cuts, it was off for hours each day. I did a day trip to Delhi in early May and found it much hotter than Varanasi, due, I think, to the building/paved roads. Having spent time in central/south Florida during summer, India is something like that. I did whatever I had to do outside in the morning or evening. The rains, as someone mentioned, were a great relief, though they can hamper travel. Having spent almost three years in India, but never during monsoon, I just had to see it. It was worth it. The Best Time to go to India is when you can go. Enjoy. (P.S. As a Floridian, you might appreciate this: I brought a fan/water bottle device that one of my neices had gotten at Disney World. Battery powered, I just flicked it on, then pumped the water bottle and sprayed a fine mist on me
