Burping at the table, or in public, is generally considered bad manners by the urban middle class and richer. (Some still do it, though, its a big and diverse country.)

The rest don't seem to care.

Burping is okay as long as you cup your hands in front of your mouth and say excuse me to everyone around in general and without them able to hear!(for cultured classes) for rest they have to exagerate the burp to get away!

Any which way due to the inherent diversity in India Life is Beautiful if one thinks positively!

Okay another South Indian custom- Anytime when known people bump into each other it is polite to enquire if the other has taken his/her meals!

Nice one Gametotravel!

If the time is not appropriate for enquiring about meals then enquire about tea or coffee.

It is not polite to place your feet with shoes on a table whether be it Dining table or Desk.

It is not polite to stamp over any paper or book with written matter.

It is not polite to go to bed with your shoes on(this is going too far considering that some houses do not allow shoes in).

And do not get the attention of people by touching with your toes! Infact Indians are very apologetic when involuntarily touching or dashing.
