Yes, dining with Caligula may have been unpalatable at times.

Interesting question!
1. Cornwall, England in the 1920s, to see what my grandparents and parents saw;
2. Paris, Montparnasse, in the 1930s - Le Select cafe;
3. Kolkata in the 1950s - especially The Coffee House;
4. London in the 1960s;
5. Isle of Wight Pop Festival, 1970

oh great point.. seeing your family's past would be great! I like that one a lot. (I'd love to spy on my Mum as a young woman getting on a ship from New Zealand to the US in 1956! So daring.)

...and a trip to the Cavern Club in the 60's.... what a thought!

A few things:

I would have liked to be in Palestine around 4 BC to 70 AD or something, to check up on the whole Jesus thing.

Anywhere in North or South America before 1492 - so much we don't know.

Baghdad during the late 8th/early 9th centuries - the Abbasid Golden Age of Harun al-Rashid of the Arabian Nights and all that.

I would very much have liked to visit Istanbul, Esfahan and Delhi at their height under the Ottomans, Safavids and Mughals, I suppose that would have been from the 16th to 17th centuries.

finally, Turkey-Iran-Afghanistan-India in the 50's, just before all those hippies started arriving.

Loving all of these (so far I want to go just about everywhere people have said!) ...and yeah on the Jesus stuff... I have a feeling an awful lot of organised religion would be in a pickle if someone went back with a movie camera and filmed what really happened

Mod Note: Jude - you will probably notice your Thread has been moved into Chai and Chat. It's not really about Books, Movies or Music!

Oops... sorry... and thanks! I nearly put it there, then read it was about India, so got confused and put it in the wrong place. Apologies!

1. Most of the above (will have to google some of them!).

2. The time (date indeterminate as yet) when our species first put their ideas and dreams into words. Hmm, I reckon it's been downhill all the way ever since.

3. Fast forward however many millenia, and I would love to sit and watch what was going on around the rocks of Australia and Africa 10's of thousands of years ago, and in and around the caves of Lascaux and Altamira sometime later, when those early human artists were at work.

4. Fast forward a few more millenia, and again, I would love to see just why and how sites like Stonehenge were built and used.

HAHAHAHAHAHA oh yes... perfect! And the bit where they're watching Jesus.. "blessed are the cheese makers" (or the big noses!) .... classic! Man, I remember when that movie came out ...the *big fuss* about it... I guess it hit a little too close to home

Love yours Kingstonian .... just imagine!

By the way, great thread, and something I often think about before falling asleep, or on long journeys. Definately a great way to let the imagination run wild.

I would go on six months / one year tour of India.
Also visit Ladakh in winter months.

Ronak.
