Check the airline site out for their policies. Many tickets are not transferrable and showing up with the wrong ID at the airport would be an interesting way to get to know Airport Security. Some which are not transferrable can be assigned to immediate family members so check it out..

As far as transferring the ticket, most airlines allow you to do so but with a price. I once booked a ticket under the wrong name, I was using someone else's credit card with their permission of course, and I somehow put their name for the ticket holder. Nevertheless, she had to go to the airport and have the name changed and I was charged 100 bucks. It was a very annoying scenario but I ultimately had to take repsonsibility for it, anyway off subject. But yes, for some airlines it is possible.

Matt, if you won a trip to Thailand, why is your return flight from Bangkok, and not Ho Chi Menh or Ha Noi or somewhere like that?

In the past it was much easier to transfer tickets. However, its a different millenium now and not necessarily better. I would use google groups to check out rec.travel.air for the discussion on this. Might even want to post a non commercial post..

I think it'll be easy enough to sell as long as your name isn't written on the ticket. The fact that you have a ticket is good, which means that your name isn't necessarily matched with the flight. Also, i wrote Thailand but I meant Vietnam, d'oh.
