How often and how long?

Fess up... how often do you go to IndiaMike and how long do you wander around on IndiaMike?

I used to spend hours on Indiamike back when I took my first long-anticipated journey back to India in 2004-2005. Then I hadnt come in a long while. But recently, I am all fired up to go to India again in a few months(hopefully in Jan 2008) so the pull of India has drawn me back to Indiamike.

At my peak, I spent hours on here. Then I wouldnt come for weeks but here I am again! I missed it and glad to be back.

How long do you spend on here Gardener972?

Oh, probably too long. Some days, several times a day; other times, I'll go a few days and not check. If there's a hot thread going and I get notified via e-mail, I'll check regularly. That's when I get distracted and realize that a few hours has past and I've been on IndiaMike the whole time. When I'm making Indian food, I'll check for recipies frequently. Sigh... makes me want to go back.

No time at all ..... and I never log on from work .... honest!

To be honest I can't resist dipping in out out whenever I'm on line. I also find if I'm in the office - a quick dip into IM clears the mind. It's like a smoking break .... but I'm an 'IM-er' not a smoker.

Suppose I'm bored? or I have things to do but I'd rather do something fun like IM trying to dream up interesting things to talk about.

Speaking of which why does the site sign me off every 5 minutes? Its annoying having to sign in over and over again.

That happened to me too and somewhere I found a box that said "remember me" (when I sign in) and it solved the problem.

That box is there next to your signing-in affair yes.

It's also best to allow the site to set a cookie in order to remember you (which in fact is what the "remember me" box is trying to do -- but you may be blocking it). Don't worry: To my best knowledge on this site at least it cleans it up upon logging off, and your CV won't be automatically shared with the powers that be

( --> Working from public places -- offices, internet cafes, etc. -- please do clean up such stuff folks. You'd be amazed what passwords and stuff can be retrieved there just looking up history or revisiting websites or so.)

Thank goodness for the iPhone! They'll never know....

I check in about three or four times a day and spend 5 to 15 minutes. It depends on the posts.

In my defense, I am new and have much to discover.

You know even though this thread is completly harmless, whenever i read a question which asks "How often and how long?" it just sounds dirty.

If it had of been "How often and how long & do you prefer morning or evening?" coupled with a " # of trips to Khajuraho" poll .... then the thread title really might have been taken out of context.

ooerr! I think that's one of those "moderator only" or "1000 posts plus" threads that mere mortals can't access.....

Depends on the amount of work. Twice a day if there's lots to do. If there's less work then IM is always open in the background. Also like FOTM, I use IM to take a break from work and clear my mind.
