How much is a bus/train ride?
Hi,
My brain hurts from so much reasearch. Could anyone tell me real quick about how much USD or RS it costs to take a bus or a train from: New Delhi to Agra and Agra to Varanasi 1. Is it better to use a bus or train. 2. Can you walk from town to town in India? Are there backpacking trails with other backpackers walking? 3. Is it safe? Can you always find a place to eat and sleep if you are walking 15 miles a day? or could you find yourself in the middle of nowhere when night falls? I am going for the first time in middle sept. for 5 months. I don't want to have to ride a bus everywhere I go. Thanks everyone for the help! |

Delhi to Agra - Rs.370 on Shatabdi, AC chair car. This is the most preferred way to travel. May be half of it in second class.
Agra to Varanasi - Rs.233 on second sleeper. 1. Trains are invariably better, except on short distances(like 100-200kms) 2. No, they would be too far for walking. 3. At 15 miles a day, it is very much possible that you could be in the middle of nowhere. I don't think it's a great idea trying to walk between towns everywhere. |
