Hapy Trails to Tanka Baba, soon for Renwaa (wow, 40 days then a three year stint: is 40 days long enough for everything that needs to be done before leaving?).

Ali --- that gives you just enough time to knit all that protective clothing

You know some people are so funny .....

I am having an all-in-one made 'speshly' for me like the Cowboys of old used to wear, with feet and mits on it and found a fencing mask too...you know for those romantic nights in a beach hut down in Agonda

Just booked my flight a few minutes ago and will arrive in Bangalore on the 10th of April.
I have to register with the FFRO office there (Visa was issued for Bangalore) then fly to Hyderabad to start working

Can't wait!

That's confusing: you need to have your current address on your registration certificate, and inform them if you move. If you know you have to register in Bangalore, fair enough, but you'll need inform the change of address to Hyderabad.

Details... Annoying, but still mere details... Happy Packing! Happy Trip!

I know the whole process confuses me.

This is what my employer has told me to do, so I am just going on the assumption she knows what she is doing.

Either way, I'll be in India, that is the best part.

Hey, Nick: Well, I'm in Denmark now on a mini-vacation until the end of April when me and the kids head off to Mumbai (the hubby leaves on Sunday). Had to get everything done prior to leaving Panama (stocking up on pull-ups diapers and other stuff like that---oh and about 10 gigantic jars of peanut butter and other goodies allowed in by customs!), but have one last passport to wait on for my youngest and then he and I will send our passports over to the Indian consulate in Copenhagen to get our (first) year residency visa. Between the 4 of us, I've had enough passport problems to last a lifetime, but such is the price of an international family, I guess. The more I see on India, the more excited we get. Looks as if we'll be calling the Taj Lands End in Mumbai home for at least a month while waiting for our stuff to arrive (takes 7wks). Could be much worse!!

Sounds like when my husband and I went 3 years ago !!! We came home and wanted to sell up, oh yeah we had the plan of washing clothing to make a bit of money, or even set up a beach cafe !!! We thought about it when we were sober and decided to just keep travelling, off to India in 65 days and we are again on the LETS SELL UP AND MOVE agenda !!!

Glad you liked it, but remember to try other places too !

Ha ha ha, they sound so alike, Dave is a bit of a dreamer where as I am more sensible and think of real jobs etc rather that washing peoples smalls !!!

We are quite serious this time, we have just had our house valued and have made approx 35k so want to sell up and take 10k for 5 years, it is quite possible to live for that long on 10k with a few jobs in between when we find somewhere we want to settle for a while.

With the housing market at the moment it doesn't seem like too much of a bad idea

Somedays we just think...there must be something better to life, we ain't got it bad and our country is a hell of a lot better than others....BUT....Have we experianced life ?

I don't want to be on my death bed regreting being normal !!!
