Hotel in Old Dehi
Hello to all,
Next August I'll be in Delhi. I remember last time I was there I loved old Delhi and said to myself that next time, instead of staying in Pahar Ganh, I would rather stay in an hotel in Old Delhi. It's not that I dont like to be with other western tourists, but I'm also happy with Indian tourists, and I don't think they often stay in Pahar Ganh. I remember an Indian from Jaisalmer telling me he always stayed in old Delhi. But I forgot to ask him which one ! So does here anyone know a simple and nice hotel in old Delhi to recommend ? Thank you very much Pierre |

Old is good to me ! In Paris, where I live, everything almost is old... And people apparently love it... The history of Delhi, which I know only a litte, is fascinating, and where do all the tourists go but to the Red Fort ? Thus, staying around, if safe, would be just great. Thanks for your reply.

talked to my friend today ... he says the place is more of a boarding house ... not really for tourists but the ppl who stay there come from far away to sell things in Chandni Chowk.. they stay by the month.
Not sure if it's what you're looking for. No real touristy amenities, no restaurants, basic facilities really. But if you're interested I can give you their information tomorrow. |

It might be interesting. The only thing, I hope they can accept people on a daily basis. Basic is ok for me, if it is clean, and I'm sure it is. If people coming from all over India go there, it must also be safe, and that matters, I think. Thank you very much for it. I think it is an address, you never know, that can help some people here. We all do not want the same things... though I confess I'm not sure sometimes what I am really for ! But I remember this conversation with this optician from Jaisalmer, and old Delhi was the place he headed for.

Triliana, you may want to ask while you're at it if this place is allowed to take in foreign guests at all. Not all guesthouses and hotels etc. do, they need a permit or something to that effect.
Tournesolage, I suppose (or am quite sure in fact) guidebooks will list hotels in Old Delhi as well. Or maybe our Hotels section will have something for you.
