Kashmir (no imagination but there were her relatives) and for imagination Ladakh. The latter was a stretch since it wasn't clear that it would be open to foreign travel at that time (them olde days). However, my bride piped up that we were on our honeymoon! The Army captain laughed and said that made me Indian and we passed. Stayed at a relation of an old friend of the family who moved out for us. God bless India for the finest people..

Excellent story Edwardseco.

As a single bloke, I just wish I had something else to add as a destination that I'd been on a honeymoon :-(

Cheers

Well, Singsub, we didn't actually take a honeymoon as such; considering that we both (Mr. Theyyam and I) think that the past fifteen years are a honeymoon every day! Having said that, between visiting family in England and friends/former colleagues in Paris, and living in Greece, plus travelling a couple of times to India, we have done a fantastic amount of travelling, so I really can't complain.

Northumberland in northern England:

(a) We didn't fancy a long haul, having been to the States on holiday earlier that year, and the other half having just come back from a business trip to the States when he proposed;

(b) I spent 4 very happy years there as a kid, and wanted to show the other half why I loved the place so much.

Wild spectacular scenery, cosy cottages, castles, and a memorable evening in a country pub where a bunch of gamekeepers bought us beers on hearing we were on honeymoon (after I'd succeeded in convincing them that I wasn't a southern softie).

No honeymoon yet, but I'd love to spend parts of it on a houseboat in the backwaters of Kerala, just totally relaxed watching the landscape passing by.

We did exactly what you wished, Federica On a houseboat in Kerala watching the palmtrees go by and excellent food.

The only difference was probably that my parents and sister + boyfriend were there too

And a day later Mr. M's parent's also joined, because we were due to visit the family deity's temple as a newly married couple.
It was a great honeymoon!

My honeymoon and wedding were one in the same. My ex-wife and I got married at the Cupid Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in '96. We were both dressed in crushed velvet zebra skin. Friends and relatives came from all over the place and everyone dressed in funky '60s and '70s tuxedos and dresses. The Elvis we hired to walk her down the aisle and sing a couple songs was an Arab, the preacher a black Southern Baptist fella with tons of flashy jewelry. After Arab Elvis sang 'Love Me Tender' at the beginning of the wedding, everyone was laughing and whistling and throwing shredded money confetti. Caught up in the moment, I turned and did a '90s-style fist-pump in the air as the laughter died down. When I turned back the preacher yelled loudly right at me, "By god, this is marriage, boy! Elvis ain't gonna be there ever-day!"

He was right. Elvis definitely wasn't there everyday; not in body or spirit. So the marriage was short, but the wedding was great. At the reception, I walked into a room and saw a very funny, very poignant moment between my senile, 85-year-old grandfather from North Dakota and my dread-locked, really high-on-cocaine friend from Los Angeles. They were sitting across from each other. My grandpa said, "What? What are you saying? You don't make sense" My friend Dave replied, "I can't understand what you're tellin' me, man, you're like drunk or something." The perfect, beautiful collision of utterly irreconcilable worlds.

I second that. Billyshake, I don't know about your acting, but your writing talents are wasted!

Oh, I wouldn't mind a nice family around as long as there is some private space, too
