Holi Festival

Hi,
I'm new to these forums so treat me nice

Basically, I'm looking to come to India for my first travelling experience this March.

Having studied the Holi festival at school, it is something that I'm really keen to experience and so want to make sure I get out there in time and go to the right place to enjoy it to the maximum.

I'm having difficulties finding the right info on the www so perhaps one of you can help me out?

Thanks for any help!

Joe

Hi Joe..

Holi is as wonderful as you can think of.

To enjoy the Holi at its best, you need to be in either Vrindavan, Barsana, or Mathura; all these places are very close to each other, so there should not be any trouble moving around. All these places are related to Lord Krishn; So, the Holy is best celebrated in these places. Holi celebration in these places starts at least 1 week earlier.

Enjoy but take few precautions as use of chemical colors are quite common these days..So, you better take some precautionary measures before going out, like applying a thick layer of moisterizer/lubricant on your skin.

Holi help

Do a search of this site using the search function above and you will dig up plenty of info.

Also, read the first thread under Scams and Annoyances, which will give you a complete picture of what you are in for (-), as well as what you have to look forward to (+) at the Festival.
Have fun!

sunilg, vera, thank you for the prompt replies. i'l look at the scams post and do some searching around myself...

my main question is what date should I book my flight for?

I'm flying to Delhi and want to give myself a few days to meet some people and then head down to the places you mention to enjoy it fully and to start my travelling off in style!!

Thanks again

The more I read and learn the more excited I get!
