Kasol in Himachal Pradesh is a good hippie spot. Atleast, it seems to be tremendously popular with the Israelis !

Hippies? Have there been any since about 1975?

Spacer, what are you looking for? Sex and drugs and rock & roll? Peace and love? The Rainbow Family?

Well just course I wasnt born to be in my twenties in the 70s doesnt mean I didnt get in to "the Doors" and Acid and beatniks and more LSD and Trance parties and feel a strong kind of bonding to the hippies, the hippie lifestyle, robert crumb and fritz the cat and all that, and why should I not? Its all good stuff, for the time beeing anyways, and If I have to choose to go live on a Hippie planet or a materialisic wallstreet planet Id choose the Hippie planet any day. Allthough I dont do drugs (anymore) and I dont call my self a hippie... Still I will apreciate more to go talk with a guy who looks a bit like some old torn hippie that you see around in india than some pale guy right off the buss with the huge camera and sunprotective hat on.
And that mind sound a bit judgementall but I just belive that the hippie guy, might have loads of hippie time stories to tell, and most of the time they do, and It fits right in and gives me that good sensation... Nothing like eating your brakfast in Gokarana and having some ol cool guy from the 70s walking in hitting of a couple off really cool beatles song on his guitarr and so on....
Good I sound pathetic huh? ...Hmmm... Maybe not.

Man just looking for somewhere with like minded people. Ideally I'd like to find some nice small village in the North near Nepal where there would be a fairly relaxed attitude to charas and I'd be able to get my hands on some, and just chill for a few months.

Hippy Chic

There are some wall street backpacker / hippy friendly types here too. Not all wall street types are materialistic. Some of us work for the good of the world like getting George Bush out of office.

Parvarti and Kullu Valley in Himachal are hash heaven, with a few old timers still kicking round

Most of the old school has headed for the little villages

I liked the ones built precariously on the hillsides overlooking the valleys

In Kullu there's Vashist, overlooking Manali, where many a week or three has been lost over the decades. There are hot springs, you can buy in the local 'crafts' shops and smoke in the restaurants. It's also known as Hashist - you get the picture

In Parvati there's Jari, small and laidback, and when the cream kicks in on a rooftop restaurant the rugged mountains on the other side of the valley start flowing like the teeth on a saw man...

down below is Khirganga, said to be where Siva meditated for 2,000 years

I guess, If you say so... Sorry then... I would still rather go to the hippie planet than the wall street planet though.

Go north mate
Go to the highest reaches of Parvati
But in reality anywhere in the mountains other than the more typical hill stops like Shimla etc which though nice dont have the vibe you seek

Like minded people are attracted to eachother and you always find eachother

However you dont have to look far in india to find the hippies
Wouldnt use the word hippies though ... PS we come in all shapes and sizes
It's where the minds at

Good luck ...you'll have no worries mate finding what you want in India

I'm with Ikuru on the Wall St thing though ...helping humanity? ...Hmmm but then thats just me and off thread topic as well so lets not go there
Then let us pray that come it may
(As come it will for a' that),
That Sense and Worth o'er a' the earth,
Shall bear the gree an a' that.
For a' that, an a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That man to man, the world, o'er
Shall brithers be for a' that.
