High-end Tailor Needed - Mumbai and/or Goa
Hi,
I will be in India next month and would like to find the best tailor in Mumbai or Goa for making western-style mens suits. Interestingly, most of the tailors in Hong Kong and Bangkok are Indian but I seem to be having a problem identifying any tailors in India that do very high end western-style clothing. Also, does anyone have any experience with the selection of quality of suiting and shirting fabric available in India. For instance, the selection in Thailand of high quality English and Italian wools for suits is not great and the selection for good shirting fabric is almost non-existent, which is why I took my own fabric with me last time I went to Bangkok. The selection was a bit better in Hong Kong but not great so I am afraid India may be the same way since the inventory costs on the fabric would be very high for a local tailor. Thanks. |

Along the same lines... I'd like a run of the mill, "make me an indian style outfit for $5," tailor in Goa. Be nice to have a western style suit made up too, though... so its not OT!

Question ...I did not quite get it...are you expecting your tailor to make a selection for you? I suggest you take your own fabric in India as well. Quote:

Locals would know better about who is the best in town.
Buy your own fabric as most Indians would do. I suggest you buy at Raymonds show rooms. You get wide variety in terms of both quality and price. Indian (Cheap and best) taylor may not be aware of the latest trends in the west. But if you can show him/her samples/pictures, you can be pretty assured you will get what you want.
