Smile Hi 2 all IMERS from Shillong

Meghalaya..the home of the clouds where I am now at present.
The town of Shillong is decorated as a hill queen.
I could see two or three westerners landing today here. All here wana go up to Cherapunjee.(the wetest place).
Any Imers here can be pleasant surprise.
Am at room no 1 Early Holiday Home at oak land.

Cheers.
Sanjay

Feeling nostalgic , Shillong is one of my favourite place. Used to visit there 3-4 times in a year once upon a time. Where are you having lunch today? We used to stay at "Centre Point" in Police Bazaar Main Road Crossing. Good food & the Rest. also had good view through big glass windows all over.Hotel Pinewood had good Cont. dishes. Visit Cherapunji & Mausingram . The road to Silchar is also very nice. Can go to Bangladesh Border too. (Forgotten the name of the place ) . How is the weather there ?

new bamboo restaurant named CITY DHABA is the best here till now.I had my dinner there..excellent food, service and detailed decorationed.
I will be on a trtek with a local friend I made yesterday to golflink and nearby villages.the town is full of tourists and busy. And in the evening there will be a band playing on the main bazar sqaure.
The lush green meadows of golf link is calling...and am coming.

Thumbs up Switzerland of the East

Don't forget to attend the Teer game every evening in Polo grounds. That is some sort of traditional archery-gambling.

The scenery near Bara pani ( called Umyam locally) is stunning, to say the least. So is the view from the Shillong peak.

Lived in Shillong for sometime in early 80's - can still remember everyone chewing Kwaai, coal heaters to beat the cold, the eerie sound pine trees make, bakeries that gave those fresh bread costing just Re 1, and winds that blow away rooftops.

A great place overall. Enjoy!

PS: Another good nearby place is Kaziranga in Assam- full of one horned Rhino and loads of other wildlife.
