Exclamation Help needed urgently!

Hi everyone,
I have an emergency! I need the phone number to the travel agent in Connaught place, Merry-Go-Travel.

I purchased some train tickets and hotel bookings for Varanassi a few weeks ago and because my wife got sick on our trip I had to cancel them.

When we booked the trip, I paid for the tix and hotels in Varanassi and my wife paid for the hotel bookings in New Delhi when we returned. Then my wife got sick and we cancelled almost everything else in the itinerary and got our money back as soon as we returned from Agra.

My problem happened when I went to the Merry-Go-Travel office. Because of the sickness and other stresses, I only brought my wife's receipt for 4000 ruppees and totally forgot mine which totaled 11,000 ruppees!!!! They gave me the 4000 back with no problem but never mentioned anything to remind me about the tix and bookings I purchased. I'm not totally blaming them because it was my fault I forgot the receipt but they could have easily reminded me.

I never realized the mistake until we got home and finally dug through the trip receipts and saw the thing staring me in the face!! I also checked my bank account and the money had already been taken out. Now unfortunately, I can't find the buisness card anywhere and there is no number to call on the receipt.

Anyway, any help in contacting these guys would be appreciated. This sucks!

-Carlos

Hi!

A google search lead me here
- not very encouraging huh?

Well, let's find out the telephone number. I doubt if you will be able to do much even with a telephone number but don't let that disappoint you.

Do you remember the location/ any landmark etc to this company?

Isn't the telephone number & address mentioned in the receipt? If yes, and IF those people do not reply, then you can try to contact the Indian Embassy and see if they can help you somehow.

There isn't any tele number on the receipt. It just says Central bank of India on the top then the name of the agency.

It was located on the outer circle of Connaught Place, I'm sure of that, and I think it might have been near Nirula's if that helps. I'm not even sure about Nirula's because that I'd only been there a couple of times and was pretty overwhelmed by the whole area anyway.

After looking at a map it makes sense that it was near the N block but once agin I really can't be sure. Boy I wished I'd payed closer attention!

Do you think the Bank of India could help? If not, there's gotta be another travel agent in that area that reads this forum and knows of these guys.

Thanks again.

Thanks Ashish, I really appreciate the help! I just hope that now I still might be able to get my money back.

I'll let you know how it goes and if the number works or not.

Thanks Jay,

My wife fortunately is much better and we are both back to work and feeeling fine. She really just had a bad go of it in Agra and a few days back in Delhi, but other than that she was able to enjoy a week of the trip undisturbed and in good spirits. Especially because the wedding had been coming up!

Other than that, I'm not so sure I'll be able to retrieve the money. Maybe if I'd not been so stupid and brought the receipt they could have fully cancelled the train tix and hotel in time. But I'm betting that nothing was cancelled and we were just considered no-shows with everything still being booked. I'm pretty sure that the money's gone. But I'm going to try anyway. I have to wait until 1 AM to try to call them. I'll post again with the results.

Thanks again for the concern

Carlos

the no. for sure belongs to them..I did call them up before posting it..the lady who picked-up identified themselves as Merry-go-travels.

I had then put-down the phone enquiring something .blah blah

All the best..should you need any more help in recovery..do let me know.
