help in locating a town in Gujarat
Hi,
I'm going to be in India in January of 2007 with a medical mission. We will be stationed in Deesa. Anyone here ever heard of it? I think it's in Gujarat, but not sure. I think the name of the hospital is Ghandi Medical Center. What I really want to know is, how far is it to Agra from Deesa? After the mission a couple of friends and I want to do a couple of days touring before we have to go home and go back to work. Unfortunately, I will only have two days, max, to do something touristy. Any suggestions???? Ssloantwo |

Have made a search in google. Deesa is in Banaskantha district, north of Gujarat, around 100 km north of Ahmedabad and 30 km from Palampur. Around 600 km from Agra. Probably you can go by train from Ahmedabad to Agra.

Hi, To go to agra, you will have to take a train from Ahmedabad to Delhi, DElhi - Agra there are various trains or by road. However if you like travelling by Road, then i suggest following. DEESA-Bharatpur (bird sactury)- fatehpur sikre historic site of moguul empire and agra. Spend two days at Bharatpur it is beautiful, on route about 60 kms towards agra is Fathepur sikri, and from there about 35 kms is Agra. AJS |

Deesa
Hi SSloantwo,
Deesa is in North Gujarat. More on the Rajasthan border. It's abt 175 kms approx from Ahmedabad. Considering the time frame that you have - abt 2 days. Would suggest that you plan a visit to Rajasthan. Mt. Abu is the nearest Hill station - nothing great there. For colourful Rajasthan, plan out and visit Udaipur, Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer. You'll go back with vivid images. Also, since it'll be just abt the end of winter, the weather also will be pleasant For Agra - you'll have to come back to Ahmedabad and depending on the time that you have, you can take a flight to Delhi or a train to Delhi ( which you'll get also from Abu Road Station or Mehsana - both are nearby ) Delhi to Agra - You can do by bus, there are hordes of travel agencies which do this route and can be done in one day or more.. depending on the time and money that you have. Hope that helps. rgds, Jay Happy Travelling
