Happy New Year!

Although I wish circumstances could be better, I'd like to wish you all a peaceful and happy new year - and when your clock hits midnight, take a moment to remember those whose year will start in suffering.

Slan mo cairde!

Conor.

New Year Greetings!

I hope those of us who are fortunate enough to be still alive and well on this New Year's Eve, will think, as the clock strikes midnight, of those who have lost family and friends in South-East Asia.

However, life goes on and we should all make a resolution to make the world a better place in 2005.

New Year Greetings to all members of Indiamike.com and Hogmanay Greetings to our Scottish members.

...we were looking forward to seeing the back of 2004 in our household it has been pretty awful, seems soooooo trivial now after witnessing the distressing situations the people in south-east asia are facing. Our hearts go out to them & hope they find some sort of peace from the trauma in 2005.

5 hours to midnight and the end of a wonderful and disasterous year! I feel blessed by the many friends I have in my life and especially the new ones I've added since my trip to India. I wish all of them and all of the IM family a prosperous, peaceful and vacation laden 2005!

Buon Anno Nuovo!

Despite our geographical, political and religious differences we all inhabit this tiny sphere under the same sky, though at times we forget. I wish all my friends a safe and speedy recovery from their troubles and raise a glass to all poor and distressed beings, wherever they may be on land, in the air or sea.
2005 is one step closer to a greater understanding of eachother and one step away from the mistakes of the past. Whatever it is that you believe, spend a moment in trying to grasp the relative enormity of other people's lives, whether they appear to be happy or sad and try to help them to do the same. It is possible for people to become so trapped in their own world that they become agoraphobic and fear others to the extent that they stop trying to extend their hand of friendship and tolerance in the same way.
If you have neglected someone or simply haven't bothered to contact them for a while, remind yourself that if you've temporarily forgotten about them, everyone else they know may have done the same and if that person is you and you feel neglected, let someone know. Can you imagine being 85 and alone with only your distant memories of the life and friends you once had? Just an example though unfortunately the list is too vast for comfort.
May the best of your yesterdays be the worst of your tomorrows.
Friends, raise your glasses, the toast is 'absent friends'.
