Happy birthday, and keep up the high standard you have set yourself. I think not everybody realises the amount of work you have to put in, to design and maintain a great site like yours. Looking forward to next year.
All the best cyberhippie |

As well as a good source of information for newbies or trip-planners, indiamike.com is also a great little watering hole for the creaking old-timers * to come in and have a bit of a natter or share some pictures. I've enjoyed it enormously over the year.
I fully expect next year's side-bar to include the link jobs at india mike * Sorry, cyberhippie, I'm not referring to you as one!

Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. I still have miles to go before I sleep.
I don't know about jobs at indiamike, I would need to generate some kind of revenue or at least win the lottery. Thinking about it maybe I could make a living selling my own Indiamike.com t-shirts. I whipped these up as examples. The unofficial "Got Milk" slogan turning into the "Got Curd" slogan. And the unofficial "Eveteaser" t-shirt for those who are proud of what they are. Cheers Mike ps....these are jokes....there are no t-shirts |

Hello Mike and besto for the future,
I first got onto yr. site when kathSF suggested that yr. site might have some info on places catering to handicapped travellers. Your site was mentiond a few times on the LP thorntree.. maybe it was u doing a soft-sell??!! I am sure that u have a tough job at present, since i have spent some time with some new .com start-ups. But the bottom line is that u r doing a great job and thats whats going to make it a success in the final run. I guess that that finally money will have to come in, but judging by the scope that you should have soon this should not be a problem in the near future. Most new sites seem to run into problems 'cause they think that a lot of advertising is the key! And spending ridiculous amounts on that. Looking at the tone of the interaction on this forum i call tell that u sure do have 1. a fan following & 2. a good combination of healthy+good fun contributors. There are a fair amount of young indians in the age group of 20 to 40 travelling with a different approach today. In the future you could look to expanding to be visible to these girls and guys too. They are fun, low on hang-ups and to some extent would make your forum that much different. Anyway thats just a passing thought in my mind. Once again all the best and have fun... |

Thanks Indiawise for the comments.
I rarely ever mentioned my site on thorn tree, except for once or twice when it first opened. I think one of the posts is still there if you did a search under Indiamike. Occasionally I may pop in to add a retraction to some statement about me, but never ever (since the beginning) mention the url of my site. It's not what I am about. I don't know if I consider myself a dot com startup since I didn't quit my dayjob and jump headfirst into it. It is more of a hobby than a business, and when it stops being fun and interesting then I quit. I also agree with you about the young people in India travelling today and there needs to be a place for them also. Anyway, here is looking forward to another year. Thanks Mike |

I don't have enough time to submitt as much as I would like but I just wanna say Mike that this site keeps me sane when I'm not in India.
I haven't set foot on the subcontinent for 2 years and it will be at least another till I can get there again. My steadily advancing years have freaked me out and I am getting together some qualifications to see me through to retirement! Without you and your site Mike, the homesickness for a chai and a cigarette in the doorway of a train as the sun comes up would have overwhelmed me long ago! |

I found this site just before I left for India. I naturally assumed it had been a long process creating it. Only one year ? I am really impressed.
The photo gallery is the feature I've had most fun with just now. If I could put up one thing on the wish list it would be the possibility to organise a theme within your album.Right now I am doing like a feature on the dogs of Dharamsala and it would be nice to have them presented together in the thumbnails. The main thing : hope you will keep finding this a fun thing to do.

Indiamike,
I am a tad late joining the good wishes list ...... It is a great site and as Toker pointed out , you archive the basic information that gets repeated ad nauseam on LPTT. You have many innovative features that make this a welcome resource for a traveller - I am sure with time this will get as popular as LP if not more. Best wishes and many congratulations on the successful first year.... may the thousand mile journey be full of fun..... ![]() |

Indiamike,
As I have said before somewhere, this site has brought us not just business but lots of friends too. Thanks for starting this wonderful board which we heartily recommend to everyone confident that the messages are always sensible and relevant. Many more years of greater success.

This is simply the coolest site on anything and everything to do with India... and it only gets better over time. Great job Mike and congrats on a fab first year.
I hope this place is not draining your pocketbook too much -- I know everyone hates ads, myself certainly included, but it's an easy way to cover costs if you need to. I know what server space and bandwidth cost... I have been on a hiatus for the past three months, lost somewhere in southeast asia, but I'm flying to India in 2 day for more craziness and mayhem and charm, which I find myself craving again! Cheers, k |
